Hi Brew Camp people,
My name is Francis Clarke and I am currently working in Birmingham as a project manager for the environmental charity Groundwork, where I am leading on the development of a new intranet platform to support collaboration and innovation.
As a former local government officer who has also done some work for FutureGov I am familiar with the work you guys do, both as BrewCamp and as individuals. I am relatively new in my role at Groundwork and am interested in linking up with and learning from peers in the West Midlands. I understand BrewCamp is primarily focused on local government but I was wondering if third sector people such as myself would be welcome to attend?
No worries at all if BrewCamp is not the place for me right now but if it is I would be keen to get involved in future.
Thanks,
Francis (@francisclarke)
Hello Francis
Yikes – have any of us got back to you before about this? Anyway, my apologies for not responding here sooner. We’d be very happy to see you come along to a Brewcamp. Plans are currently under way for our next one which, all being well, ought to be in November.
You’re right, we do have a focus on local government, but we work on the principle that if somebody is interested enough to want to come then they are very welcome. At the last event in Oldbury we had a couple of people from local voluntary sector organisations as well as a local councillor and a community activist.
Keep an eye out for an Eventbrite going up. Myself @danslee, @pigsonthewing, @mikerawlins, @pezholio and @808kate are all likely to Tweet about it. And we also have HyperWM, our annual unconference for the West Midlands coming up, you’d be welcome there too.
All the best
Simon
